Maitland to Rebuild Downtown Park

The City of Maitland will begin work this year to rebuild a downtown park next to City Hall.

Plans for the 2-acre site include new restroom facilities, a fountain with a courtyard, large grassy areas and walkways. A seating area will have tables and benches along Independence Lane - across from several new businesses and eateries proposed downtown.

Construction is expected to start this spring. Completion could be late this year or early 2020.

The redesigned park is the second phase of Maitland's downtown development, providing a central location for casual recreation and public events.

The newly reconstructed Independence Lane opened last year, kicking off a monthly series of block parties featuring live music, food, vendors and kids activities.
